QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Valid Texas Driver’s License and clear and acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.
  3. Well organized, self starter.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in recordkeeping and good writing skills.
  5. Effective communicator with ability to interface with custodial staff and campus administrators.
  6. Three (3) years of successful experience working in a housekeeping/custodial environment.
  7. Supervisory experience required.  
  8. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
  9. Ability to work flexible schedule.
  10. Knowledge of routine custodial practices and methods.

SALARY/PAYGRADE:

$24.43/hour – HS-10

Salary (based on verifiable job-realted experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the 2024-2025 school year.

                                               

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Establish and oversee schedules and procedures for the regular custodial care of assigned facilities.
  2. Work cooperatively with principals and facilities managers to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of building operations.
  3. Inspect assigned facilities and initiate cleaning and recommend repairs as needed.
  4. Coordinate the moving and delivery of district furniture, books, inventory, etc.
  5. Direct and assist in setting up facilities for special events.
  6. Schedule and supervise summer custodial projects, including cleaning and refinishing floors.
  7. Instruct assigned personnel on proper and safe use of equipment and chemicals.
  8. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  9. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
  10. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  11. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  12. Maintain inventory for assigned facilities.
  13. Prepare, implement and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for custodial equipment.
  14. Order equipment and supplies and maintain accurate records.
  15. Recommend replacement of existing equipment.
  16. Work irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
  17. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to work well with diverse employee groups.
Frequently required to lift and carry loads up to at least 60 lbs., bend, stoop and reach above shoulder level.
