LOW VOLTAGE TECHNICIAN IV

Qualifications:

LOW VOLTAGE TECHNICIAN III

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Ability to read, write and speak the English language and follow written and verbal instructions. Current valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.
  3. Ability to work at various heights and in all weather conditions.
  4. Minimum 2 years’ experience in the trade.
  5. Working knowledge of public address systems and score boards.   
  6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and written reference material.

$16.28/HS-6

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform all responsibilities of Low Voltage Tech IV.
  2. Operate personnel lift and bucket truck as needed to assist Low Voltage Technicians to reach work site for repairs or installations.
  3. Repair minor malfunctions of public address systems and score boards.   
  4. Properly fill out work orders and turn in on a daily basis.
  5. Work independently with limited direct supervision.
  6. Select and order material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
  7. Prioritize, organize, and complete paperwork daily.
  8. Notify Foreman of problem areas in low voltage systems.
  9. Maintain inventory of supplies.
  10. Respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
  11. Assist others in repair and operation of public address systems and score boards.   
  12. Program or modify programs on clock systems.
  13. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

LOW VOLTAGE TECHNICIAN II

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Ability to read, write and speak the English language and follow written and verbal instructions.
  3. Current valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.
  4. Ability to work at various heights and in all weather conditions.
  5. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the trade.
  6. Knowledge of current codes and ordinances concerning low voltage systems.   

 

Salary/Pay Grade:

$19.70/HS-8

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024-2025

 

Terms of Employment:

260 days

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform all responsibilities of a Low Voltage Tech III & IV.
  2. Account for truck, material, time, tools and zone of buildings within the district.
  3. Assist with training of apprentices in the repair and operation of public address systems and score boards.     
  4. Construct, modify, repair and replace public address systems and score boards.
  5. Relocate and expand low voltage systems.    
  6. Troubleshoot and locate problems in low voltage systems.    
  7. Coordinate work with other trades.
  8. Estimate jobs for time and materials; order materials.
  9. Inspect district facilities to detect needed repairs on low voltage systems.
  10. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  11. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  12. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

 

LOW VOLTAGE TECHNICIAN 1

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Ability to read, write and speak the English language and follow written and verbal instructions.
  3. Current valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.
  4. Ability to work at various heights and in all weather conditions.
  5. Minimum 6 years’ experience in the trade.
  6. Complete working knowledge of public address systems and score board codes involved with each system.   
  7. Read, comprehend and edit specifications and prints for new construction.

 

Salary/Pay Grade:

$22.22/HS-9

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2021-2022

 

Terms of Employment:

260 days

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform all responsibilities of a Low Voltage Tech II, III, & IV.
  2. Troubleshoot and locate problems in low voltage systems.  
  3. Construct, modify, repair and replace public address systems and score boards.
  4. Estimate, organize, install and oversee building modifications, repairs and material needed for department.
  5. Secure and restart building equipment properly in the event of equipment failure.
  6. Maintain necessary records and paperwork needed to complete jobs in a timely manner.
  7. Update Foreman on progress of building modifications and work orders.
  8. Train and supervise other department staff.
  9. Plan ahead for department and district needs.
  10. Meet with manufacturer’s representatives and vendors to resolve problems associated with products.
  11. Meet with architectural consultants on new or existing facilities.
  12. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  13. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
