QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Master’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
  2. Valid Texas administrators/principal certification;
  3. Minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as an English language arts teacher;
  4. Preference is given to applicants with experience in grade 6 English language arts or reading intervention;
  5. Demonstrated:
  1. Demonstrated skills in leading, motivating, and cooperating with other teachers, campus administrators, and district personnel.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 220 days

 

SALARY:

$75,181/IA-4

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024-2025.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Coordinate the review, development, and revision of secondary Reading and 6th grade English language arts programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and grading plans.
  2. Work cooperatively with campus principals and CIA department members in developing and supervising the secondary Reading and 6th grade English language arts instructional programs.
  3. Work collaboratively with the Secondary English Language Arts and Secondary ESL Coordinators.
  4. Work with teacher committees to determine priority objectives in secondary Reading and 6th grade English language arts.
  5. Work with appropriate instructional personnel to establish district standards for acceptable levels of student achievement in secondary Reading  and 6th grade English language arts.
  6. Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of campus improvement plans in secondary Reading and 6th grade English language arts.
  7. Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for secondary Reading and 6th grade English language arts, especially in writing. 
  8. Provide training for teachers in areas related to improving student learning and performance. 
  9. Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in secondary Reading and 6th grade English language arts.
  10. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
  11. Participate in the selection and adoption of instructional materials for Reading and 6th grade English language arts.
  12. Participate actively in professional English language arts teacher associations and encourage the participation of other English teachers.
  13. Supervise secondary Reading and 6th grade English language arts coaches and Reading instructional specialists.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and Directors of HS and MS Curriculum and Instruction.
