QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  3. Must pass a pre-employment physical.
  4. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  5. Ability to operate safety equipment.
  6. Ability to effectively manage student behavior
  7. Ability to speak, read and understand the English language.
  8. Must demonstrate professionalism in one’s communications and interactions with students, parents, school personnel, and coworkers.
  9. Must be able to successfully complete and remain current on special-education certification courses and trainings, including CPR and First-Aid, that are offered through the department/District.
  10. Must follow District policies and Transportation Services guidelines and procedures.

$16.17/HS3

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024-2025.                                         

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist in providing a safe and positive riding experience for all students assigned to your bus.
  2. Assist driver in performing pre-and post-trip inspections.
  3. Supervise and assist students while they board and exit the bus and cross the street, following prescribed policies and procedures.
  4. Instruct students on safe entering, exiting, and riding rules and regulations.
  5. Secure students in bus as necessary.
  6. Perform emergency evacuation of students on bus if necessary.
  7. Maintain effective behavior management with students.
  8. Must attend in-service, required trainings, and safety meetings as required by the department. Must complete required online compliance courses and cybersecurity trainings as required.
  9. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, parents, school personnel and coworkers.
  10. Complete and maintain accurate and timely records and reports, including up-to-date route sheets for all assigned routes and daily non-notification forms.
  11. Assist and guide a substitute driver to follow assigned route as needed.
  12. Follow established procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, assisting students, etc.
  13. Assist in keeping bus clean and neat.
  14. Follow emergency procedures and help drive administer first aid if necessary.
  15. Report and collaborate with driver and supervisor regarding concerns on the bus.
  16. Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to established safety procedures.
  17. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Wheelchair lift, ramp, lock, and special needs adaptive and safety equipment.  Safety equipment including but not limited to flares, reflective signs, and fire extinguisher.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Maintain emotional control under stress.  Moderate walking, sitting, kneeling, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, and pulling; moderate lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds).  Work outside and inside; moderate exposure to noise, extreme temperatures, and vechicle fumes.
