QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or GED from a district-approved entity is preferred.
  2. Physically able to operate 4,000 lb. fork truck and battery-operated pallet jacks.
  3. Hold or obtain within six months of employment a valid Texas Drivers License.
  4. (Class B - CDL) with an acceptable driving record as established by the district.
  5. Acquire six ( 6) Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications (Automotive A 1- A8, Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks Tl-T6) or obtain within 18 months of employment.
  6. Ability to maintain ASE certifications.
  7. Ability to maintain Class B - CDL including the ability to annually receive a DOT physical clearance.
  8. Three years of verifiable experience in vehicle service.
  9. Own/possess adequate tools to perform assigned duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems in vehicles
  2. Access and utilize printed/electronic service material
  3. Perform major and minor repairs, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and safety inspections on vehicles, lift gates, pallet jacks, forklifts, and lift trucks in a safe, timely, and efficient manner with minimal supervision
  4. Effectively utilize computerized fleet software
  5. Maintain accurate, updated records of time and materials required to perform repairs, service, and preventive maintenance
  6. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures
  7. Follow, promote, and model safety in the shop by ensuring established safety procedures and guidelines to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc. are followed
  8. Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe, clean, and efficient operating condition
  9. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the Warehouse Manager immediately
  10. Operate vehicles and equipment as needed
  11. Communicate and interact professionally with co-workers, department personnel, and community members
  12. Frequent travel between warehouses to perform minor repairs on vehicles and equipment
  13. Take and maintain tire depth chart and coordinate tire replacement with the Transportation Services Department
  14. Communicate equipment needs, repair status, and out-of-service vehicles with the Warehouse Manager
  15. Maintain inventory of supplies for equipment
  16. Support the Nutrition Services Department with regular and reliable attendance
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager, Assistant Director of Nutrition Services, Logistics, or Nutrition Services Director.
