Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED from a district approved entity preferred.
  2. Acceptable driving record as specified by Texas Department of Public Safety for school bus drivers.
  3. Possess and maintain a Texas CDL minimum Class B endorsement with acceptable driving record as measured
  4. by the School Bus Driver's record evaluation criteria.
  5. Minimum of six (6) ASE Automotive Certifications (Automotive A1-A8 or Medium/Heavy Duty Truck) or obtain
  6. certifications within 18 months of employment.
  7. Certified Texas vehicle safety inspector and DOT inspector.
  8. Four (4) years of verifiable work experience as a technician.
  9. Own/possess adequate tools to perform assigned duties. 

 

Salary/Paygrade:

$22.21/HP4

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2023-2024

Essential Functions:

  1. Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems in vehicles.
  2. Assist technicians with evaluating mechanical, electrical, and electronic concerns.
  3. Assist in the use of dia8nostic equipment as needed.
  4. Access and utilize printed/electronic service material.
  5. Perform major repairs such as radiator and rack and pinion as well as minor repairs, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and inspections on all district vehicles in a safe, timely and efficient manner with minimal supervision.
  6. Effectively utilize computerized fleet software.
  7. Maintain accurate, updated records of time and materials required to perform repairs, service, and preventive maintenance.
  8. Assist with training technicians.
  9. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery accordine to prescribed safety procedures.
  10. Follow, promote and model safety in the shop by ensuring established safety procedures and guidelines to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc. are followed.
  11. Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe and efficaent operating condition and clean.
  12. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  13. Respond to emergency road calls and tow vehicle if necessary.
  14. Operate buses and other vehicles as needed.
  15. Work irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
  16. Communicate and interact in a professional manner with co-workers, department personnel, and community members at all times.
  17. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.
