QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
3. Possess a clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
4. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a certified school bus driver.
5. Ability to deliver school bus driver training (Class A, Class B, and Special Needs) to adult learners using a variety of teaching methods.
6. Ability to teach behind-the-wheel training to prospective drivers using a variety of teaching methods.
7. Third-party tester certification preferred, or the ability to become a third-party tester through DPS.
8. School bus driver certification instructor preferred, or the ability to become a school bus driver certified instructor through Region IV.
9. Ability to read and implement documents including policies and procedures manuals.
10.Ability to receive and give written and verbal instructions in a professional manner.
11.Effective and professional communication and interaction skills/abilities.
12.Ability to serve as role model at all times.
13.Ability to safely operate a school bus.

$17.13/HS7
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide training and retraining to new hires/trainees, bus drivers and attendants on the bus, behind- the- wheel, and in the classroom.
2. Effectively and professionally convey district, state, and federal policies, procedures, practices, and laws governing the transportation of students, including those with disabilities.
3. Evaluate trainees on all aspects of transporting students during the training process.
4. Serve as a substitute driver/attendant on routes as needed.
5. Maintain records and files and prepare reports relative to training bus drivers, including but not limited to timesheets, individual training hours, and mileage.
6. Assign trainees to appropriate personnel.
7. Teach, model, and evaluate effective student management techniques.
8. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Maintain emotional control. Clear speech. Continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions. Work outside and inside; moderate exposure to noise, extreme temperatures, and vehicle fumes.
