Carpenter III – HS 5         $14.84 hour minimum

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required

  • Clear and acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements

  • Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language

  • Minimum of two years of experience required, three years preferred

  • Know how to operate lifts properly and safely

  • Have basic carpentry layout skills

Essential Functions:

  • Install all types of hardware

  • Install/repair ceiling tile and grid work

  • Assemble various types of furniture

  • Build partitions from wood or metal

  • Install sheet rock

  • Install a wide variety of items such as pictures, blinds drapes, mirrors, fire extinguishers, and shelf brackets

  • Assist in flooring projects and wall base installations

  • Conduct preventive maintenance thoroughly and properly

  • Handle emergency calls as needed from dispatcher

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function

 

Carpenter II – HS 7          $17.48 hour minimum

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required

  • Clear and acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements

  • Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language

  • Minimum of three years of experience required, five years preferred

  • Know how to operate lifts properly and safely

  • Ability to layout most phases of carpentry work

  • Ability to manage a crew and materials efficiently to avoid waste or time and materials and take complete responsibility for a finished job

Essential Functions:

  • All responsibilities of Carpenter III

  • Work from plans, prints and specifications

  • Troubleshoot jobs and make necessary repairs

  • Install cabinetry

  • Building forms and retainer for concrete pouring

  • Install doors, windows, shelving, support and paneling

  • Install sheet rock, ultrawalls, goldbond walls, etc.

  • Install ceiling grid, skylights, plexiglass, roof vents and shingles, etc.

  • Building wood decks and metal awnings

  • Figure material lists for jobs

  • Willing and able to teach fellow employees

  • Set up, use and calculate with leveling instrument

  • Install hardwood flooring, bleachers, and backstops

  • Work with special materials such as formica, slate tops for labs, etc.

  • Lay out and install VCT, ceramic tiles sports court and carpet

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function

 

Carpenter I – HS 8    $19.21 hour minimum

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required

  • Clear and acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements

  • Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language

  • Minimum of five years of experience required, seven years preferred

  • Know how to operate lifts properly and safely

  • Ability to layout most phases of carpentry work

  • Ability to manage a crew and materials efficiently to avoid waste or time and materials and take complete responsibility for a finished job

  • Ability to manage department for a short period of time with written directives from Foreman

Essential Functions:

  • All responsibilities of Carpenter III and Carpenter II

  • Ability to lay out all phases of carpentry work

  • Calculate job estimates (materials and labor) accurately

  • Build cabinetry and perform furniture repairs

  • Repair and install hardwood floors

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions for all carpenter positions:

  • Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds

  • Be available to work different schedules or shifts to accomplish tasks

  • Be available for after hour demands, subject to 24 hour responsibility

  • Maintain emotional control under stress

  • Ability to work alone

  • Ability to keep information confidential
