QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree with a major in business or business related;
- Minimum of five (5) years of payroll or payroll related experience with preference given for school district experience;
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience;
- Experience with Payroll/Personnel Software with preference given to experience with eFinance (PowerSchool) systems;
- Experience with automated time keeping systems preferred;
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal requirements relating to payroll issues and reports;
- TASBO certification preferred;
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing;
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Annual Contract: 250 days
SALARY:
$72,235 (BA 5)
Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2018-2019
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervision of the Payroll Department staff.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal and state payroll reporting requirements.
- Responsible for collecting, reporting, and monitoring data required for TRS TEAM reporting.
- Maintain detailed Payroll Department Procedures Manual.
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of the payroll process as well as all related federal and state reports.
- Responsible for responding to district paycheck inquiries.
- Monitor elements of the payroll database for accuracy.
- Reconcile changes between semi-monthly payrolls.
- Interface with the Human Resource (HR) Services, Finance, and other departments on payroll-related issues.
- District liaison with the Teacher Retirement System of Texas regarding employee reporting.
- Coordinate importing and verifying timekeeping data into the financial software for payroll processing.
- Recommend development of new policies and procedures related to automation and department efficiency.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Payroll.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
