QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED;
- Must be 18 years of age;
- Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsements;
- Ability to effectively direct and manage personnel;
- Ability to follow and give written and verbal instructions effectively;
- Ability to read and understand documents including policies, guidelines and procedures manuals;
- Proficient map reading skills;
- Ability to use computerized routing system;
- Ability to pass alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam;
- Ability to complete required bus driver safety training;
- Effective and professional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to safely operate a school bus;
- Ability to effectively manage student behavior;
- Ability to serve as a department role model;
- Two years’ experience as a school bus driver.

$45,848. BA-1
Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2019-2020
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise all non-shop employees in the absence of the department director and the assistant directors/area directors;
- Assist the director and the assistant directors/area directors in determining departmental structure and job descriptions by providing support and recommendations of employees;
- Assist in the succession planning of key positions, including coordinating, evaluating, and approving departmental operations;
- Supervise bus drivers and attendants at assigned transportation center including mentoring, motivating, and assisting employees with customer service, on-time performance, student management, regular and professional communication with parents and campuses, and writing clear and concise reports in a timely manner;
- Interview driver and attendant applicants, make recommendations for hire, and assist with the onboarding process as required;
- Confirm transportation eligibility in compliance with federal rules, TEA, and CFISD Board policy;
- Process transportation requests for students and create appropriate bus stop locations to safely and equitably serve the students;
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with school staff and administration;
- Determine student safety requirements, submit work orders for installation of necessary equipment on buses, maintain records of assigned equipment;
- Review, edit, and approve employee timesheets, trip sheets, and absences using the designated software;
- Ensure district policy and departmental guidelines are understood, enforced, and evident through one-on-one meetings/coaching sessions, staff/center meetings, and in-service trainings;
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function;
- Serve as a substitute driver, attendant, or dispatcher as needed;
- Respond to emergencies as needed;
- Other duties as assigned.

Supervise and evaluate the performance of bus drivers and attendants.

Able to perform frequent district-wide and occasional state-wide travel;
Able to sustain occasional prolonged and irregular hours;
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
