QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university.
  2. Valid Texas Certification in Special Education.
  3. Minimum of (3) years as a successful special education classroom teacher.
  4. Knowledge of the current and future uses of technology with student with disabilities.
  5. Experience in the integration of students with disabilities in the general education setting;
  6. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  7. Required to travel both within and out of district;
  8. Clear and valid Texas driver's license.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 193 Days

  

SALARY:

Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work with campus and related service personnel to determine appropriate assistive technology services.
  2. Serves as a consultant to classroom teachers in the use of assistive technology.
  3. Troubleshoot and respond to technical issues/concerns with campus staff.

  4. Implement in-home and parent training plans.

  5. Coordinate and facilitate training for staff and families of student users.

  6. Assist with planning and delivering district-wide training regarding assistive technology involved in providing access to the curriculum.

  7. Evaluate students formally and informally and adjusting plans to meet student needs.

  8. Provide tools for students who struggle with verbal or written communication or access to technology in the classrooms.

  9. Other duties as assigned.
  10. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
