QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED certificate, college degree, preferred.
  2. Current State of Texas HVAC “A” License and Universal CFC certification required.
  3. Seven (7) years experience in the HVAC trade with experience in commercial equipment and systems greater than 100 tons cooling and 2,000,000 BTU’s input heating.  
  4. Two (2) years of experience in or with related trades such as plumbing and electrical.
  5. A minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a management or leadership position.
  6. Two (2) year technical training certificate in HVAC or equivalent preferred.
  7. Must possess a high degree of leadership and communication skills.
  8. Current valid Texas driver’s license, with good driving record.
  9. Able to speak, read and understand the English language.
  10. Must apply and insure annual “Boiler Operator Permits” from the City of Houston.

$73,318/BA-5

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2019-2020

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

250 days

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervise HVAC department personnel and perform HVAC work as needed.
  2. Develop and implement new employee orientation.
  3. Develop, implement and supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of all HVAC systems while complying with all CFC regulations and laws.
  4. Must be able to read and interpret electrical and mechanical plans, specifications, and operational criteria.
  5. Develop, implement, supervise and monitor other District’s Preventive Maintenance Program of all HVAC systems and equipment.
  6. Maintain effective communications with building administrators to discuss schedules, problems, coordination of repairs and service and any other information related to HVAC activities.
  7. Observe and enforce federal, state and local laws and codes as well as regulations governing the HVAC industry.
  8. Insures all HVAC equipment is maintained in a safe working condition with all associated safeties operational.
  9. Coordinate and expedite the ordering of HVAC materials, tools, and equipment.
  10. Schedule preventive and corrective maintenance work in an efficient and effective manner.
  11. Be responsible for meeting required deadlines, quality standards, and employee morale.
  12. Develop and implement training programs for HVAC department personnel in safety, MSDS awareness, preventive maintenance, and equipment repair.
  13. Must be able to understand and apply all written and oral instruction and direction.
  14. Take necessary action to correct and immediately report any condition that could cause illness or injury.
  15. Supervise and inspect all work done by outside contractors.
  16. Make authoritative recommendations concerning the hiring, advancement, discipline, and discharge of employees.
  17. Maintain departmental logs and records in an organized manner.
  18. Monitor time cards and work orders daily.
  19. Maintain an adequate inventory of HVAC supplies and filters to ensure normal day-to-day operations.
  20. Work in coordination with other divisions/trades.
  21. Be available for after hour demands. Subject to 24-hour call out responsibility.
  22. Prepare and arrange for the purchase of contracted services necessary for the operation and maintenance of schools.
  23. Possess knowledge of and monitor IAQ problems and concerns.
  24. Assist in preparing Maintenance budget.
  25. Pull city, state and county permits as needed.
  26. Attend construction and coordination meetings on behalf of the department.
  27. Review mechanical construction projects with architects and engineers to plan equipment replacements.
  28. Review equipment submittals to verify specification compliance.
  29. Perform field construction observation reports.
  30. Provide support with TAB issues and develop resolutions for noted deficiencies.
  31. Observe changes in weather and environment and coordinate safety precautions to protect district assets.
  32. Supervise building automation control systems and coordinate repairs.
  33. Observe building occupied schedules and implement adjustments based on seasonal conditions.
  34. Maintain documentation of district boilers and sustain compliance with TDLR Boiler Law and Rules.
  35. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
  36. Perform other duties as assigned.
