QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Master’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university required;

  2. Certification in deaf education preferred;
  3. Appropriate administrative certification preferred (preference may be given to those working on administrative certification)
  4. Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience in special education or deaf education preferred;

  5. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and cooperate with various school staff members.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Annual Contract: 210 days

 

SALARY:

$61,620 (IA 3)

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2020-2021

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Coordinate and develop site campus scheduling of students, teaching staff, and interpreters at beginning of school year and works with lead teacher/interpreters on schedules during school year as needed.
  2. Facilitate site campus team meetings and communicate effectively with staff.
  3. Attends and participate in monthly deaf education leadership meetings as well as campus administrative team meetings, as requested.
  4. Observe and provide instructional feedback to teachers and support staff (paraprofessionals, interpreters, and pre-certified interpreters) on providing support to students.
  5. Promote the use of technology in teaching/learning process.
  6. Assist in development of teacher growth plans with support of coordinator and/or campus administration.
  7. Assist in effective classroom and individual student behavior management strategies/systems and techniques and discipline of students.
  8. Coordinate with school administration in dealing with student behaviors, as well as, observing the classroom and providing guidance to personnel.
  9. Conduct conferences on student concerns with parents, students, and/or teachers. 
  10. Assist campuses with schedules for student assessments throughout the year.
  11. Facilitate AI student staffings and IEP meetings for site campuses.
  12. Assist Coordinator in maintaining accurate records for student accountability (PEIMS). 
  13. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  14. Develop and provide staff development for site campus staff on strategies related to instruction of students who are deaf and hard of hearing. Assists with developing back to school Professional Development for Deaf Education staff.
  15. Assist coordinator for deaf education in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
  16. Participate in professional development to improve skills related deaf education and/or leadership skills.
  17. Assist in filling in for teacher and/or interpreter needs when substitutes are not available.
  18. Set up and coordinate, with administrative staff, class field/instructional trips.
  19. Collaborate with Lead AI Itinerant teacher and PI teachers on placement options for babies turning 3 and communicate with Itinerant teachers regarding potential site to home campus students.
  20. Be knowledgeable about graduation options, plans, and transitional services for students from birth through high school and upon graduation.
  21. Attends IEP meeting/staffings in representing the NWHCCDHH for move-ins, transfers, of RDSPD students within CFISD and other member districts within the SSA.
  22. Works collaboratively with campus audiologists regarding classroom accommodations and educational supports and services.
  23. Perform all other duties as deemed appropriate by district and campus administration.
  24. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
