QUALIFICATIONS:
- Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements;
- High School Diploma or GED;
- (1) One year’s transportation routing experience in public schools;
- (2) Two years’ experience as a school bus supervisor preferred;
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop route schedules, spreadsheets, databases, and word processing;
- Ability to evaluate situations and make sound decisions under pressure;
- Ability to read and understand documents including policies and guidelines and procedures handbooks;
- Ability to receive and give written and verbal instructions in and effective and professional manner;
- Ability to pass alcohol and drug tests, and annual physical exam;
- Proven effective organizational and communication skills;
- Ability to safely operate a school bus.

$49,515 BA-2
Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2019-2020
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate bus runs/routes to ensure they are safe, efficient, and timely in accordance with the Texas Education Agency;
- Provide input regarding Transportation Operations guidelines and procedures pertaining to the routing program and assignments;
- Assist with the continued evaluation of growth areas; approve and implement modifications;
- Communicate necessary routing information and changes to the Area Director to disseminate accordingly, as well as parents, campuses and community members as necessary;
- Assist with any routing data reports as requested by the Assistant Director of Transportation, Operations;
- Compile department reports, state reports, and other documents and reports as required;
- Collaborate with the Research and Planning Department and the Technology Department regarding the routing software mapping and student information needs;
- Assist Transportation Human Resources with department interviews, both internal and external, for designated assignments and vacant positions as requested;
- Coordinate and implement regular and special needs route selection processes;
- Coordinate assignment of all regular and special needs routes, and communicate relevant information to necessary parties, including payroll and other department staff;
- Plan, prepare, and present staff development operational training and presentations as necessary;
- Establish and maintain professional working relationships with Transportation Department staff, campus personnel, parents, and community members;
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and electronic reports, records, and other documents as required;
- Assist with all route selection processes, including the distribution of route information to parents and guardians through various communication methods, including but not limited to mailers and automated phone calls;
- Serve as a substitute bus driver as needed;
- Other duties as assigned.
