QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Bachelor's degree from a recognized, accredited college or university in journalism or related field;

2.  Exceptional writing skills;

3.  Proficiency in DSLR still and video photography preferred;

4.   Proficiency in managing multiple social media platforms-Facebook, Twitter, lnstagram and YouTube.

5.   At least three (3) years of public education experience preferred;

6.   At least three (3) years work experience in news writing, editing and photography preferred;

7.   Computer proficiency in desktop publishing-Adobe Photoshop, lnDesign and lllustrator;

8.   Demonstrated proficiency on both Macintosh and PC platforms;

9.   Demonstrated ability to work on multiple assignments, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality;

10. Demonstrated strong work ethic and organizational skills; and

11. Sound judgment and decision-making skills.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 250 days

 

 

SALARY:

Pay Grade: $55,613  BA-3

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2018-2019

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.  Write press releases and feature stories highlighting programs, events, honors, and staff and student achievements.

2.  Write articles for district publications and website.

3.  Shoot, edit, produce and distribute photographs and videos for website, publications or social media accounts.

4.  Produce portraits of students, employees and board members for displays and publications.

5.  Handle photo processing and framing for the communication department including coordinating quote process.

6.  Travel to district campuses and facilities for event coverage.

7.  Cover after-school and weekend events.

8.  Assist local media in obtaining interviews and on-site district access.

9.  Use multiple social media networks to enhance district profile, including live tweets, lnstagram posts and stories, posting photo albums and updates to Facebook and videos to YouTube.

10. Attend and report on monthly Board meetings.

11. Contribute to designated publications and coordinate printing of selected publications with print center.

12. Research and gather information for ongoing communication projects.

13. Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Communication and the Assistant Superintendent for Communication and Community Relations.

14.  Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent districtwide and occasional overnight travel. Frequent outdoor exposure.
