QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three (3) years of successful administration experience in a public school system or an equivalent amount of safety experience in the private sector or public entity (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered);

2. Knowledge of Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code in regards to school safety;

3. Ability to implement policy and procedures;

4. Must be able to effectively communicate with parents, teachers , and administrators;

5. Demonstrate skill in leading, motivating and cooperating with others;

6. Strong oral and written communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills;

7. Knowledge and completion of the National Incident Management System and Incident Command System preferred. 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Annual Contract: 250 days

 

SALARY:

$83,070    (BA 6)

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2018-2019

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.  Confirm campuses and facilities follow the four phases of emergency management (mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery).
2.  Maintain the safety of each school climate by assisting principals and other administrators in being proactive to emergency situations, conducting safety training, implementation of the buildings' emergency operations procedures.
3.  Establish an open dialogue with local emergency responders for protocols during emergencies by attending trainings, conferences, meetings and staff developments.
4.  Coordinate and report all safety and security audits of district facilities in compliance with the guidelines of Texas School Safety Center.
5.  Oversee, organize and facilitate all after action reviews for any drills or emergency events.
6.  Assist, maintain, and facilitate all safety training for campus and ancillary staff.
7.  Perform safety presentations related to emergency management.
8.  Report any security incidents and unusual or hazardous conditions to appropriate authorities and Central Administration .
9.  Monitor and update the Emergency Operations Plan on each campus and facility.
10. Coordinate district-wide Crisis Planning.
11. Establish a functioning school district safety and security committee with responsibilities that include ensuring compliance with local, state and federal  mandates.
12. Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of Chapter 37 and school security and safety.
13. Act as liaison and representative for CFISD between all first responders, Harris County Department of Education, and other districts.
14. Encourage feedback from administrators, teachers, staff, and emergency responders.
15. Establish implementation of a comprehensive school safety plan that outlines emergency and safety procedures for school and district employees and students to follow. The plan will address the roles, duties, and responsibilities of Principals, Assistant Principals, teachers and staff.
16. Develop a checklist for each district facility that provides a step-by-step emergency protocol for specific emergencies that is readily available for staff to follow during an emergency.
17. Require that each school and non-instructional facility practices safety drills. Chapter 27.108 (a) (2).
18. Oversee the district anonymous reporting website.
19. Oversee and review the operation of Metal Detectors and radio communication.

20. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Chief of Police.

21. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district wide travel, frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Occasional exposure to the outdoors and noise.
