QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering or Computer Science related field;

2.   Master's degree is a plus in the area of Business Management Administration;

3.   Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred in at least one of the following areas: CCNA Data Center, CCNA Routing and Switching, CCNA Voice;

4.   Minimum of 5 years' experience in managing enterprise class network communications systems;

5.   Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;

6.   Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

1.   Knowledge of Enterprise Wide Area Network design and installation of infrastructure and communications systems; this includes installing, troubleshooting, and supporting infrastructure hardware such as routers, network electronic switches and controllers, security appliances, distance learning video systems, communication systems (voice over IP), and wireless systems with bring your own device technologies. 

2.   Experience in planning and managing technology budgets with knowledge and experience in controlling technology costs;

3.   Strong project management, communication and organizational skills (both written and verbal);

4.   Ability to plan, implement and maintain large enterprise networking (core, distribution, access, power, and backup), district-wide network systems and infrastructure initiatives; virtualization of data center technology; business continuity and disaster recovery; cyber security, and voice over IP telephony. 

5.   Manage continual, uninterrupted operations of a large-scale, wide-area networked data center;
6.   Ability to work with other administrators, teachers, students, parents, and the general public;
7.   Ability to manage procurement policies and practices;
8.   Capacity in identifying technology needs, developing proposals, and evaluating solutions;
9.   Ability to manage the E-Rate application process;
10.  Ability to effectively lead and manage technology services staff;
11.  Ability to perform strategic and long-range planning;
12.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with executive level management, fellow employees, community and government leaders, and the general public;

13.  Understanding of routing and routing protocols;

14.  Understanding with enterprise wireless experience preferred;

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Annual Contract 250 days

 

SALARY:  Midpoint  $103,989   

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2017-2018 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.    Provide leadership in problem determination and resolution in response to instructional and administrative network problems, LAN/WAN infrastructure, telecommunications, and data communication problems.
2.    Provide technical management and managerial level administration of the district's voice network.
3.    Coordinate and monitor system utilization; recommend improvements as needed.
4.    Design and implement backup processes to ensure the backup and recovery of all networks is performed on a regular basis and data is restored as needed.
5.    Manage the development and implementation of a disaster recovery plan.
6.    Serve as liaison to software and hardware vendors and telecommunications vendors and maintain appropriate product support.
7.    Maintain network design and configuration documentation.
8.    Identify and recommend the acquisition of software and hardware to meet the automation and networking needs of district staff.
9.    Develop technical training options and improvement plans for personnel to ensure best operation of programs.

10.  Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
11.  Effectively manage the daily operations of the network operations center to support the core business of education.
12.  Provide support to the administrative staff, teachers, and students to further instructional goals.
13.  Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers,
administrators, and co-workers.
14.  Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure goals of the department are being met.
15.  Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communications (i.e., email, written, and verbal).

16.  Collaborate with other departments to ensure successful project implementations .

17.  Promote responsiveness among staff to provide the highest support for school/district goals . 
18.  Establish an organizational climate to provide the components of high..quality customer service: courtesy, caring, flexibility and problem resolution. 

19.  Promote a positive working environment among subordinates and between departments.

20.  Identify and advocate the need for equipment upgrades and improvements, manpower, and support requirements to ensure that the department's automation capabilities successfully meet the changing needs of the District.

21.  Support the Chief Technology Officer in the development and implementation of new technology
solutions for all District departments and functions.

22.  Plan and coordinate networking projects and activities and ensure continuity of the development, implementation and maintenance of all appropriate systems as required by the District Technology Plan, and as otherwise directed.

23.  Supervise and maintain an effective team capable of completing assigned goals.

24.  Provide adequate training for staff when new methodologies are to be applied.

25.  Evaluate job performance of staff to ensure effectiveness.

26.  Model world-class customer service.
27.  Define job performance expectations of technology staff, evaluate job performance, conduct conferences, develop training options, and improvement plans for the technology department.

28.  Oversee all projects and activities of the department to ensure that they are implemented on-time and within budget.
29.  Maintain operations and key performance indicators to monitor services provided.
30.  Prepare annual budget for all personnel, hardware, software, data processing and network supplies
required for the effective daily operation of all infrastructure, communications, and networking systems.
31.  Establish and implement managerial and operational controls to monitor system performance, analyses, implementation, and operating costs to maximize return on all technology and training investment for instructional and administrative requirements.
32.  Maintain and support all district-wide information systems.
33.  Develop, implement, and manage district standards and specifications for hardware, software, and
systems use.
34.  Coordinate the purchase of all computer hardware, software maintenance, and supplies.
35.  Initiate purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations and district policies.
36.  Provide long-term cost reductions and process improvements through strategically optimizing the use of technology in the district.

37.  Participate in community activities, to the extent feasible and appropriate, that foster rapport and mutual respect between the district and the community.
38.  Assist schools and administrative departments in development and implementation of plans to address technology needs (including evaluation of hardware and software as well as management of information relating to attendance, grade reporting, scheduling, demographic data, and budgetary information).

39.  Stay abreast of trends and developments in both technology and the integration of technology in the educational sector that may impact the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the district.
40.  Participate in professional organizations that provide synergy and quality benefits to the department. Maintain a technology organization plan that creates an environment that supports, encourages, and measures professional development while controlling overall staffing costs.
41.  Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible and serve as a role model for all district staff.
42.  Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.

43.  Supervise and evaluate the performance of Enterprise Networks Communication (ECN) staff.
