QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent; veterinary technician experience preferred.
2. Three (3) years of experience working with animals in a professional setting.
3. Ability to work with a variety of animals including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.
4. Knowledge of appropriate animal care including feeding, grooming, triage and treatment.
5. Ability to work closely with veterinarian and follow up with recommended medications and treatments necessary to maintain the health of the animal population.
6. Knowledge of basic computer operations and skills.
7. Ability to operate personal computer and educational software.
8. Ability to work and communicate with students and teachers effectively.
9. Must be able to work holidays and weekends as needed to provide animals’ care.
10.Competency on CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above on both parts of the test).

250 Days
SALARY/PAYGRADE:
$27,805 – CP3
Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2017-2018
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide appropriate care of the animals housed at the Science Resource Center including feeding, cleaning of living areas and grooming of animals.
2. Maintain animal lab including restocking, replacing, cleaning and making repairs where needed.
3. Maintain animal habitats in accordance with USDA and veterinary guidelines.
4. Prepare animals for teacher check-out and volunteer demos and fieldtrips.
5. Assist with volunteer training and staff development.
6. Team with other SRC staff to deliver and inspect planetariums, prepare materials for distribution to teachers, assist with materials check in.
7. Follow established procedures and standards and maintain labs and other areas in a clean, healthy and safe manner.
8. Keep administrative records and prepare reports as required.
9. Assist with office, clerical or kit room duties as needed.
10.Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
