Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master's degree from a recognized, accredited college or university;
2. Certification in special education;
3. Texas certification in secondary education preferred;
4. Valid Texas Administrator's certification or licensed professional counselor's certification;
5. Minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as a secondary classroom teacher;
6. Demonstrated skill in leading, motivating, and cooperating with others.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 210 days

 

SALARY:

$59,515  (IA-3) 

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2017-2018

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.   Collaborate with general and special education teachers, school administrators and parents to provide educational support for students with disabilities.
2.   Serve as a liaison between campus and Instructional Support Center.
3.   Provide technical assistance to instructional staff concerning the teaching/learning  process.
4.   Mentor general education teachers in implementation of individual student accommodations and modifications as designed by IEP committees.
5.   Collaborate with teachers and assistant principals in designing effective behavioral interventions for students experiencing behavioral difficulties.
6.   Schedule student staffing to support and resolve student, teacher or parental concerns.
7.   Serve as chairperson for multi-campus IEP meetings.
8.   Serve as administrative representative for IEP meetings, as requested by the campus principal.
9.   Assist with organizing the state assessment process for students receiving special education services.
10. Monitor progress in the implementation of the STAAR-Alternate.
11. Serve as contact person for transition and the State Performance Plan.
12. Assist with programming and course selection for students with disabilities.
13. Attend regularly scheduled special education staff meetings and high school special education teacher supervisor meetings.
14. Keep abreast of current issues and methodologies in the education of students with disabilities.
