QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

2.   Must have a clear and valid Texas Driver’s License.

3.   Must have five (5) years of HVAC experience.

4.   Must have an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification.

5.   Successful experience working with direct digital controls (DDC) and variable frequency drives (VFD).

6.   Knowledge of HVAC systems repair, maintenance, and installation techniques.

7.   Ability to use personal computer and software.

8.   Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material.

9.   Ability to perform mathematical calculations.

10. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.

11. Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

12. Ability to speak, read, and understand English.

13. Ability to manage personnel.

 

SALARY/PAY GRADE

$33.48/HV13

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2017-2018

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                      

260 days 

                                             

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.   Direct work assignments of HVAC technicians.

2.   Assist with the selection, training, and evaluation of HVAC technicians.

3.   Maintain accurate information for payroll reporting (timecards, tardiness, and absenteeism).

4.   Assign priority to work orders, process them, and track labor and material use.

5.   Monitor progress of department jobs and conduct follow-up inspections of completed work.

6.   Maintain a current inventory of supplies and parts for the department.

7.   Assist with recommendations regarding disposal of obsolete equipment and replacement equipment when necessary.

8.   Inspect HVAC jobs in the district to evaluate proper work order completion and effectiveness of HVAC workgroup.

9.   Maintain, upgrade, and backup building automation software.

10. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.

11. Ensure that equipment is maintained in operating and optimum condition.

12. Plan for severe weather and emergency disasters as related to HVAC.

13. Attend professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovative techniques in maintenance operations.

14. Respond to after-hour emergencies as needed.

15. Instruct assigned personnel on safety procedures and proper use of equipment and tools.

16. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

17. Ensure that vehicle, equipment, and tools are in safe operating condition and perform preventive maintenance.

18. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.

19. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

20. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS FOR ALL HVAC POSITIONS:

1.  Able to work various shift work 6:00 am or 8:00 am to 2:30 pm or 4:30 pm, or 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm as well as emergency and scheduled overtime as required.

2.  Able to lift 75 pounds.

3.  Be available to work different schedules or shifts to accomplish tasks.

4.  Be available for after hour demands; subject to 24 hour responsibility.

5.  Maintain emotional control under stress.

6.  Ability to work alone.

7.  Ability to keep information confidential.

8.  Work well with others.

9.  Work at heights.

10.Physical exposure to cold, heat, dampness, and noise.

11.Continuous standing, walking, bending, climbing, crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, lifting and lowering.

12.Ability to work appropriately with others in close proximity.
