QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university required;

2. Valid early childhood teaching certificate highly preferred;

3. Successful completion of student teaching/internship or alternative certification program (ACP) preferred;

4. General knowledge of early childhood curriculum and instruction;

5. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;

6. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior in an early childhood setting;

7. Minimum of two (2) years successful experience in a leadership position required;

8. Thorough understanding of the requirements of child care licensing preferred, and

9. Strong computer skills including database and Excel required.

  

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Annual Contract: 230 days

 

SALARY:

$53,763  (IA 1)

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2016-2017

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.   Supervise the operation of assigned Early Learning Center.

2.   Obtain a Texas Child Care Director's License after employment.

3.   Manage staff members to ensure quality program implementation.

4.   Design, direct and coordinate the center's daily schedule and special events.

5.   Develop curriculum for each classroom, as assigned.

6.   Observe and provide feedback to instructors/aides regarding instructional practices and strategies that increase child learning and development. 

7.   Maintain all child records, support child enrollment and classroom assignments. 

8.   Maintain the appearance, cleanliness and safe environment of the classrooms, buildings and playgrounds. 

9.   Manage human resource related tasks pertaining to staff meetings, staff schedules, substitutes, absences/tardies, basic policies/procedures and such.

10. Ensure the operation of the center is in compliance with or exceeds the standards of Texas Child Care Licensing in addition to CFISD standards. 

11. Provide staff development sessions and model lessons for ELC staff members. 

12. Complete all necessary paperwork for communication with the parents of the center and provide positive communication with parents as appropriate. 

13. Provide regular, on-going communication to the director of the department. 

14. Manage and provide annual input on the ELC budget. 

15. Provide input on department policies and procedures. 

16. Perform any and all other duties deemed necessary by the Office of Community Programs, and/or the Assistant Superintendent for Communication and Community Relations.

  

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district wide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Occasional exposure to the outdoors and noise.
