QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university, with additional graduage study or a Master's degree preferred;
2. Texas certification in Elementary education with Bilingual endorsement;
3. Minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as a Bilingual teacher;
4. Demonstrated skill in leading, motivating, coaching and cooperating with other teachers;
5. Successful experience with at-risk students and flexible regrouping language arts;
6. Excellent communication and written skills in Spanish.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Probationary/Term Contract: 197 days

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. To work with Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Special Populations and campuses to build a strong foundation of Spanish Language Arts skills in the primary grades along with quality ESL instruction.
2. To work with Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Special Populations and campuses to successfully transition Bilingual/ESL students to English
3. To improve student achievement by monitoring student data and providing instructional support for LEP students
4. To work with teachers and administration to facilitate implementation of TEKS and ELPS to prepare students for critical state assessments
5. To work on Spanish and ESL curriculum development
6. To revise and develop Spanish and English assessment instruments
7. To model lessons in the classroom
8. To assist teachers in the implementation of instructional strategies
9. To develop a plan of action with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Special Populations, campus administrators and teachers to improve student achievement
10. To observe teachers and provide feedback
11. To train teachers in implementing instructional strategies
12. To work with program and curriculum coordinators and building administration to plan staff development
13. To assist with district staff development days
14. To attend staff development
15. To assist campuses in increasing/improving parental involvement so that they may work more effectively with parents of at-risk students
16. To work with ESL contacts to provide and coordinate needed materials
17. To assist with program evaluations
18. To communicate with Director regarding development and progress of the program in the building 19. To assist with implementation and supervision of summer school programs
20. To link campuses to additional support services 21. Other duties as assigned by the Director
