Description

PARTS TECHNICIAN II

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   High school diploma or GED equivalent.

2.   Must have one year experience in inventory parts management.  

3.   Basic math skills.

4.   Effective communication skills.

5.   Knowledge of auto parts and terminology.  

6.   Knowledge of purchasing procedures.

7.   Ability to lift heavy equipment and tools.

8.   Ability to use personal computer and automated inventory system.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                      

260 days 

 

SALARY/PAYGRADE:

$14.74/HS6

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2016-2017

                                              

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.   Contact vendors to check on availability of parts and supplies.

2.   Ensure parts catalogs and order books are current.  

3.   Initiate purchase orders for parts and supplies to maintain established inventory levels.

4.   Collaborate and maintain a positive working relationship with vendors and shop personnel.

5.   Monitor parts room inventory and perform periodic inventory audits, verify accuracy and account for discrepancies.

6.   Utilize computerized system to record and track receipt and issuance of parts and supplies.

7.   Pick up parts order or arrange for delivery.

8.   Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks.

9.   Open crates and other containers, unpack items received and inspect for damage and defects.

10. Receive deliveries and verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing or measuring and comparing size, weight, description and coded numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.

11. Create and maintain all physical and electronic records and files required, including computerized parts and supplies inventory.

12. Verify pricing of parts and supplies complies with state contracts and obtain price quotes for special orders and repairs.

13. Monitor fuel usage and fuel storage tank level readings and assist with the ordering of fuel and scheduling of deliveries.

14. Operate tools and equipment according established safety procedures.

15. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.

16. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

17. Maintain clean and orderly parts and supply room and equipment.

18. Adhere to contracts, policies, procedures, guidelines and State and Federal laws.

 

PARTS TECHNICIAN I

QUALIFICATIONS:

2.   Must have three (3) years of experience in inventory parts management.  

3.   Basic math skills.

4.   Effective communication skills.

5.   Knowledge of auto parts and terminology.  

6.   Knowledge of purchasing procedures.

7.   Ability to lift heavy equipment and tools.

8.   Ability to use personal computer and automated inventory system.

9.   Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                      

260 days 

 

SALARY/PAYGRADE:

$16.22/HS7

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2016-2017

                                              

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.   Locate and requisition all parts, materials, and supplies needed for vehicle repair and maintenance.

2.   Monitor and direct the work of parts technician II(s).

3.   Maintain accurate records of all fuel used and order or requisition fuel.

4.   Contact vendors to check on availability of parts and supplies.

5.   Collaborate with appropriate district personnel regarding researching and developing specifications and procedures for obtaining new parts, services, and contracts.

6.   Work cooperatively with purchasing department to develop specifications, sources, availability, pricing, shipping, and receiving of parts, equipment, and supply needs for vehicle repair and maintenance.

7.   Ensure parts catalogs and order books are current.

8.   Maintain parts and supply inventory and initiate purchase orders to maintain established inventory levels.

9.   Collaborate and maintain a positive working relationship with vendors and shop personnel.

10. Manage and use a computerized/automated system to record and track receipt and issuance of parts and supplies.

11. Create and maintain all physical and electronic records and files required, including computerized parts and supplies inventory.

12. Pick up parts order or arrange for delivery.

13. Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks.

14. Open crates and other containers, unpack items received, and inspect for damage and defects.  

15. Receive deliveries and verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring and comparing size, weight, description, and coded numbers with information in invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.

16. Verify pricing of parts and supplies complies with state contracts and obtain price quotes for special orders and repairs.

17. Detect and resolve problems with incorrect orders, invoices, and shipments.

18. Monitor fuel usage, and maintain all fluid levels in District vehicles.

19. Operate tools and equipment according established safety procedures.

20. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.

21. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

22. Develop work schedule and assignments to ensure efficient operation of the parts room.

23. Maintain clean and orderly parts/supply room and equipment.

24. Perform monthly inventory audits and account for discrepancies.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Frequent walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Frequent work interruptions. Regular exposure to dampness and humidity, extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline and diesel fuel.
