QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university;
- Valid Texas teaching certification;
- Minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as an elementary science teacher;

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Campus-based support and responsibilities:
- Consult with campus staff to interpret the TEKS, Scope, Sequence, and District Curriculum Documents.
- Work with individuals, content teams, and campus administration to use science assessment data to develop, implement and monitor an instructional action plan.
- Provide support to and work collaboratively with the IS/Campus Administration so that they may facilitate/support effective team planning.
- Provide staff development in the form of peer coaching, campus-level, and district-level professional development.
- Identify and support efforts to increase relevancy in the science classroom.
- Facilitate implementation of new instructional strategies and/or instructional materials.
- Observe, provide feedback, and support teachers in their efforts to provide a learning environment that supports all learners.
- Communicate with the Science, 2-6 Coordinator, and Campus Administration to identify areas of success as well as areas in need of additional support, training, or resources.
District-based support and responsibilities:
- Work with the content coordinator and/or other coaches to develop staff development sessions that support:
- 5E Instructional Model
- Using formative assessments to guide instruction
- Investigations/Performance Assessments as learning and relevancy opportunities
- Science Literacy
- Align and develop instructional resources (first-time instruction, acceleration, and remediation) and curriculum documents for grade 2-5 science courses.
- Use data to ensure that materials/resources and future staff development initiatives address identified needs.
- Stay abreast of current events/discoveries in scientific research and pedagogical content knowledge.
- Attend and present professional development sessions as needed beyond contract time and district boundaries.
- Attend Science Liaison Meetings beyond contract time.
- Assume a leadership role in special projects as they arise.
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function for both campus-based support and responsibilities and district-based support and responsibilities.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
