QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field preferred -OR- 5+ years of professional work experience in LAN/WAN network operations, network administration, and personal computer support 2. 5+ year of experience in an enterprise LAN/WAN environment; this includes configuring, installing, troubleshooting, and supporting infrastructure hardware 3. Work experience in managing and supporting HPE and Cisco switch and ClearPass 4. Experience with Microsoft Windows operating system to troubleshoot networked computer workstations, systems, and programs used by the District in both instruction and administrative areas 5. In-depth knowledge of the LAN/WAN network topologies and protocols, routers, switches, VLANs, UPSs, and cabling 6. Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey highly technical concepts with a wide range of internal and external contacts 7. Ability to lift, carry, and move components 8. Ability to read construction drawings and technology specifications 9. Self-motivated with the ability to follow directions, complete time-sensitive tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, high stress environment 10. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Network Specialist – LAN/WAN – This position is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the network infrastructure on all campuses and non-instructional facilities. This position will use his/her expertise to ensure all the network systems within the campus/district work in unison with each other, including working with internet connections, cabling, virtualized platforms, and data center systems. The position will manage LAN/ WAN projects that will require detailed planning, implementation, and evaluation of all campus/district programs and needs.

$78,703 (TA-7)
Salary (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024-2025
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supports the network system with designing, developing, testing, and modifying of the overall district’s network architecture, systems, services, and equipment. 2. Installs, maintains, and provides high-level technical support for LAN/WAN network systems, creating and maintaining network documentation, maintaining hardware and software standards, and works on projects as needed in order to upgrade to new and/or improved network communication equipment and procedures. 3. Maintains HPE and Cisco network switches and work with vendors as needed. 4. Adds and removes switches, patch panels, cables, UPSs, etc. during renovations and new construction projects. 5. Manages the overall network security of the district, including internet, LAN, WAN, WLAN, and 3rd party applications. 6. Coordinates and schedules downtime with district staff for updates and/or upgrades of services and systems on all campuses and non-instructional facilities. 7. Researches, determines, defines, and recommends network changes to the district’s Network Core team. 8. As part of the Enterprise Communication Networks team, candidate is expected to monitor network systems and services for maximum performance, uptime, proactive alerting, and event logging. 9. Troubleshoots network systems to resolve network, server, or service issues, including but not limited to internet access, LAN/WAN/WLAN connectivity, email, DNS, DHCP, VoIP, NAC and operating system issues. 10. Monitors the district dark fiber links between sites, hubs, and data centers, and work with the provider to resolve the issue with down links. 11. Requires the ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot network endpoints, such as, but not limited to computer workstations, computer systems, IoT systems, and programs used by the District in both instruction and administrative areas. 12.
