LOW VOLTAGE TECHNICIAN IV

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  3. Current valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.
  4. Self-motivated and willing to expand skills for further advancement.

Salary/Pay Grade:

$14.24/HS-4

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024-2025

 

Terms of Employment:

260 days

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform assigned tasks promptly and with a positive attitude.

LOW VOLTAGE TECHNICIAN III

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Ability to read, write and speak the English language and follow written and verbal instructions. Current valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.
  3. Ability to work at various heights and in all weather conditions.
  4. Minimum 2 years’ experience in the trade.
  5. Working knowledge of districts different types of Fire Alarm Systems and operation/function.  
  6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and written reference material.

 

Salary/Pay Grade:

$16.28/HS-6

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024-2025

 

Terms of Employment:

260 days

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform all responsibilities of Low Voltage Tech IV.
  2. Operate personnel lift and bucket truck as needed to assist Low Voltage Technicians to reach work site for repairs or installations.
  3. Repair and troubleshoot minor problems with addressable Fire Alarm Systems and integrated devices/parts. 
  4. Properly fill out work orders and turn in on a daily basis.
  5. Work independently with limited direct supervision.
  6. Select and order material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
  7. Prioritize, organize, and complete paperwork daily.
  8. Notify Foreman of problem areas in low voltage systems.
  9. Maintain inventory of supplies.
  10. Respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
  11. Assist others in all things preventive maintenance. 
  12. Program or modify programs on clock systems.
  13. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

LOW VOLTAGE TECHNICIAN II

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Ability to read, write and speak the English language and follow written and verbal instructions.
  3. Current valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.
  4. Ability to work at various heights and in all weather conditions.
  5. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the trade.
  6. Knowledge of current codes and ordinances concerning NFPA and UL codes.  

 

Salary/Pay Grade:

$19.70/HS-8

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024-2025

 

Terms of Employment:

260 days

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform all responsibilities of a Low Voltage Tech III & IV.
  2. Account for truck, material, time, tools and zone of buildings within the district.
  3. Assist with training of apprentices in the repair and operation of Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, Suppression and Clock systems.   
  4. Replace essential parts/devices for district fire systems.  
  5. Troubleshoot and locate causes for communication issues, i.e., ground faults and voltage levels.  
  6. Coordinate work with other trades.
  7. Estimate jobs for time and materials; order materials.
  8. Inspect district facilities to detect needed repairs on low voltage systems.
  9. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  10. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  11. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

 

LOW VOLTAGE TECHNICIAN 1

Qualifications:

1.  High school diploma or GED equivalent.

2.  Ability to read, write and speak the English language and follow written and verbal instructions.

3.  Current valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.

4.  Ability to work at various heights and in all weather conditions.

5.  Minimum 6 years’ experience in the trade.

6.  Complete working knowledge of Fire Alarm addressable systems and monitoring. 

7.  Read, comprehend and edit specifications and prints for new construction.

 

Salary/Pay Grade:

$22.22/HS-9

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024-2025

 

Terms of Employment:

260 days

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform all responsibilities of a Low Voltage Tech II, III, & IV.
  2. Troubleshoot and indentify cause for failed communication with Fire Alarm devices affecting operation.  
  3. Estimate, organize, install and oversee building modifications, repairs and material needed for department.
  4. Secure and restart building equipment properly in the event of equipment failure.
  5. Maintain necessary records and paperwork needed to complete jobs in a timely manner.
  6. Update Foreman on progress of building modifications and work orders.
  7. Train and supervise other department staff.
  8. Plan ahead for department and district needs.
  9. Meet with manufacturer’s representatives and vendors to resolve problems associated with products.
  10. Meet with architectural consultants on new or existing facilities.
  11. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  12. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

 

Physical Demands/Working Conditions for all levels: 

  • Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds.
  • Be available to work different schedules or shifts to accomplish tasks.
  • Be available for after hour demands, subject to 24 hour responsibility.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Ability to work alone.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
