QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with a major in accounting or business related.
- Certified Public Accountant preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in accounting, cash management and financial reporting with preference given for school district experience.
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processing.
- Possess strong interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills.
- Possess strong public relations skills.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Probationary/Term Contract: 250 days
SALARY:
$111,073 (BA-9)
Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024-2025
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides direction and supervision for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting and cash management activities.
- Maintains and coordinates financial accounting system for all funds of the District in accordance with accepted standards for school accounting as prescribed by the Texas Education Agency, and the Financial Accounting System Resource Guide.
- Fulfills all financial reporting requirements of the Texas Education Agency as well as those of all other governmental agencies.
- Establishes and maintains sound procedures which will both expedite the flow of accounting documents and ensure adequate internal control.
- Oversees and assists in preparation and publication of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
- Oversees and assists in the Annual Financial Audit and any special audits.
- Ensures compliance with District policies and procedures as they relate to financial areas.
- Provides direction and supervision for the preparation of the financial PEIMS data for submission to TEA.
- Remains current regarding changes in accounting pronouncements, state, and federal laws and practices pertaining to school finance through continuing education from professional publications and attendance at professional meetings and workshops.
- Provides for the evaluation and development of finance office staff under his/her supervision.
- Acts as a resource for campuses and departments in understanding and using the financial operations of the District.
- Provides staff in-service in the area of school finance and the financial accounting system.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Financial Services.
- Reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Financial Services.
