Description | QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
- Valid Texas Administrator's certificate and certification in an area of special education;
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in special education;
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful campus and/or central administrative experience
- Training and experience in mediation and conflict resolution regarding support services for students with special needs; and
- Demonstrated leadership ability, collaborative leadership style, strong interpersonal skills, and effective communication skills.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Probationary/Term Contract: 250 days
SALARY:
Pay Grade: EL-1 $136,918
Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate, facilitate, and provide adminstrative oversight for comprehensive programs, according to the processes and procedures of the Texas Education Agency, state and federal statutues and regulations, and district requirements for special education, psychological services, 504 services and emergent bilingual.
- Serve as a resource to parents, teachers, and administrators for school services and special education, inclusive of, but not limited to, strategies for delivery of services, program enhancements, staffing matters, program and personnel evaluation, budgeting, and district/campus improvement planning.
- Facilitate staff development activities through an extended knowledge base and communication of effective current practices and programs, as well as innovative and research based alternatives for school services and special education.
- Be responsible for the updating of job expectations, professional growth, and personnel evaluations of lead staff for special education, psychological services, 504, and emergent bilingual.

Articulate the district's mission and goals for school services and special education to establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents, students, and staff and to provide them with opportunities for participation and collaboration.

Support the various departments in providing quality and cost-effective services by supplying the necessary resources such as personnel and time for planning.

Represent the district in designated consultation, mediation, and complaint proceedings involving school services and special education.

Facilitate the implementation of Medicaid reimbursement programs.

Serve as a professional and personal model (1) through ethical and responsible behavior; (2) through demonstration of continuous development; and (3) through use of skills appropriate to the assignment.

Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Academic Officer/ Associate Superintendent.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent districtwide and occasional overnight travel.
