Job Title: Manager – Enterprise Communication Network

Reports to: Director, Network Infrastructure and Communications

Pay Grade: (TA-9) Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

 

Primary Purpose:


Plan, organize, implement, service, and monitor District-wide technology communication systems and infrastructure initiatives; manage continual, uninterrupted operations of a large-scale, wide area networked technology data center; provide coordination and direction for all network and telecommunication systems. Primarily is responsible for the installation, management, and oversight of all network infrastructure hardware, software, and communications technology equipment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Degree(s):

  • Required: Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering or Computer Science related field
  • Preferred: Master's degree in the area of Business Management Administration
  • Professional experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in managing enterprise-class network communications systems
  • Knowledge of educational technology trends and practices.
  • Certification in foundational networking principles is preferred in at least one of the following areas: Data Center, Routing and Switching, Security, Wireless or Voice over IP/ Collaboration.
  • Experience in project management and budgeting.
  • Must be a critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

Technical Management:

  • Lead problem determination and resolution for network, LAN/WAN infrastructure, telecommunications, and network security problems.
  • Administer the district's network at a technical and managerial level.
  • Monitor system utilization and recommend improvements.
  • Implement and manage backup processes and disaster recovery plans.
  • Act as liaison with network and telecommunication vendors, maintaining product support.
  • Maintain network design and configuration documentation.
  • Develop technical training options and improvement plans for personnel.

Organizational Management:

  • Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  • Manage daily network and data center operations to support core business and education goals.
  • Support administrative staff, teachers, and students in achieving instructional objectives.
  • Maintain positive, customer-service-driven interactions with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to meet department goals.
  • Maintain positive and professional communication standards.

School/Organizational Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments for successful project implementation.
  • Foster responsiveness among staff to support school/district goals.
  • Establish an organizational climate focused on high-quality customer service.
  • Promote a positive working environment among staff and departments.
  • School/Organizational Improvement:
  • Identify and advocate for equipment upgrades and improvements to meet district needs.
  • Plan and coordinate enterprise networking projects in alignment with the District Technology Plan.
  • Identify and address the changing needs of the District.

Personnel Management:

  • Supervise and maintain an effective team capable of completing assigned goals.
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide feedback.
  • Define job performance expectations and develop improvement plans.

Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management:

  • Oversee department projects to ensure on-time, within-budget implementation.
  • Monitor operations and key performance indicators.
  • Prepare annual budget for infrastructure, communications, and networking.
  • Establish controls to monitor system performance and operating costs to maximize Return On Value (ROV).
  • Develop and manage District standards for technology use.
  • Drive long-term cost reductions and process improvements.

Professional Growth and Development:

  • Stays abreast of trends and developments in both technology and the integration of technology in the educational sector that may impact the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the District.
  • Participate in professional organizations to enhance department synergy.
  • Create and maintain a technology organization plan to support professional development.
  • Demonstrate professional, ethical behavior as a role model.
  • Contribute effectively to District and department goals.
  • Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage and motivate the Enterprise Communications Network team with diverse skills and backgrounds. Consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress.

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding, and use of mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Environment: Frequent district-wide travel and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Annual Contract 250 days

 

SALARY:  

TA-9 $100,863

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees
