QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age; proof of high school graduation/GED equivalent required. Some college hours preferred.
  2. Minimum of one-year successful experience in a state regulated child care facility or educational setting required, two years preferred.
  3. Flexible and able to adjust daily routine or work schedule based on the needs of the children and the centers.
  4. Experience as a lead instructor preferred.
  5. Customer service experience required.
  6. Experience with activity plans and knowledge of the developmental stages of children required.
  7. Knowledge of Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers and Early Childhood Education experience preferred.
  8. Self-motivated, able to work under pressure and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  9. Ability to communicate in both verbal and written forms with staff, children and parents of the centers.
  10. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
  11. Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
  12. Ability to instruct children and manage their behavior.
  13. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and receive directives from multiple supervisors.
  14. Ability to apply common sense, understanding, and sound judgement to carry out essential functions.
  15. Available occasional nights and weekends as required for scheduled meetings or trainings.
  16. Ability to meet/maintain all eligibility requirements required by Texas Health and Human Services to be employed in a child care operation, including maintaining required first aid and CPR certification. 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

197 Days - 40 hours per week

 

SALARY/PAYGRADE:

$19.00 per hour – CR5 as approved by the Board of Trustees 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Travel to any Early Learning Center assigned to fill in for absences and provide needed coverage.
  2. Perform all essential functions of the position assigned.
  3. Acknowledge receipt of daily assignments in a timely manner.
  4. Maintain a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  5. Supervise children in all programming areas.
  6. Prepare and implement age-appropriate lessons as outlined by the ELC curriculum.
  7. Complete all necessary paperwork for communication with parents of the center and provide positive communication with parents, as appropriate.
  8. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills and meet the yearly training requirements as outlined in the Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers.
  9. Comply with state, district and department regulations and policies pertaining to the role of an ELC employee.
  10. Attend and participate in staff and department meetings, as required.
  11. Adhere to all standards, procedures, and expectations outlined in district and program handbooks as well as all staff development training.
  12. Adhere to all Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers licensing requirements.
  13. Maintain confidentiality.
  14. Maintain positive, professional relationships and interactions with children, parents, CFISD staff members, and community members, including regular communication.
  15. Utilize positive behavior strategies and maintain professionalism in interactions with children and colleagues.
  16. Accept constructive feedback and reflect on instructional practices and program quality.
  17. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
  18. Perform any and all other duties deemed necessary by the ELC Director, the Assistant Directors of Community Programs, the Director of Community Programs and/or the Assistant Superintendent for Communication and Community Relations.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and listen. Frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and twisting. Frequent light lifting and carrying (under l5 pounds); occasional moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds). Indoor and outdoor environment. Available from 6:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily; possible split shifts. Report to any Early Learning Center as directed.
